This is where I'll update throughout the Rising Tide 5 conference. My focus will be to give a general overview, so if you are more interested in details about politics or public safety, I'm sure a quick Google search will lead you other bloggers tackling those and other topics. The actual Treme panel is not until 4pm, so you may want to check back after that for the good stuff.

What's Goin On?
But first, a link. David Simon, Eric Overmyer, and Eric Kessler of HBO will be speaking in a panel moderated by Dave Walker on Oct 19 about the "innovative content, marketing, and fanbuilding story behind Treme." Like what, get bloggers to talk about your show for free? :)
Next-the schedule for the next few days. I fly to New Orleans tomorrow, and will begin to meet up with a number of blog buddies for the Rising Tide 5 conference.
Friday morning is a service project for Second Harvest. We'll be packing boxes of food for distribution. Friday night is the opening party/reception/meetngreet at the Howlin' Wolf. It'll be the time to meet the people behind the blogs and the crazy online handles.
Then Saturday is the conference. Lots of cool panels and speakers, including Mac McClelland of Mother Jones as our keynote speaker. I'm of course most interested in the Treme panel, moderated by Maitri who is the ringleader of Back of Town (linked right.)
Saturday night is A Night of Treme at the House of Blues. Kermit Ruffins, Irma Thomas, John Boutte, and more, plus a VIP party after. Don't get much better than that, plus the proceeds benefit the Make it Right Foundation.
Then if I can crawl out of bed on Sunday am, I'm going on a journalist's tour with Dave Walker of the T-P. Then it's back to the airport alack alas.
This reads like a dry itinerary, but if I let any bit of my excitement through it will burst forth in a geyser of squeedom. It's going to be a whirlwind, and although this is primarily for me, (ME!) I hope to gather tons of great content for Treme fans all over.

The Emmy result
So Steve Earle's "This City" did not get the Emmy, but I guess if you're going to lose, you might as well lose to Randy Newman ("Monk").
